What Our Trademark Clients Say About Working with Us

When you’re considering a trademark for your business, there are usually a few questions that come to mind:

Is this name available? How do I protect it? Where do I even start?

For many business owners, the trademark process is unfamiliar. They may have never filed a trademark before, may not know what a comprehensive trademark search involves, or may simply want someone to help them understand the process.

We’ve been helping business owners navigate those questions since 1992.

Ratings are appreciated, but what matters most to us are the experiences behind them.

Here are some of the stories our clients have shared over the years.

For Many First-Time Filers, It Starts With "Where Do I Even Start?"

Most people don’t file trademarks every day. For a first-time filer, the process can seem confusing or overwhelming.

One Trustpilot reviewer had already explored several options, including a consultation with a patent attorney, before contacting TradeMark Express. After she submitted an inquiry, Chris DeMassa called her within 24 hours. She said that every cost was explained before she signed up.

Her story ended with something every business owner hopes to see: her official USPTO registration had arrived.

Other first-time filers have described similar experiences.

Heidi Sallquist said the trademark process had initially seemed “confusing and difficult,” but that our team “walked me through it seamlessly.”

Hilary Anne Mulligan, who was also new to trademarks, described our team as “extremely responsive and conscientious.”

For us, that’s an important part of the process. Trademark research and application preparation involve a lot of details, and clients should understand what they’re paying for and what happens next.

A Trademark Can Become a Long-Term Business Relationship

A trademark isn’t always a one-time project.

Businesses introduce new products, develop new brands, expand their offerings, and eventually need to deal with trademark maintenance and renewals. That’s why we’re especially grateful when clients continue working with us as their businesses grow.

Some clients have been with TradeMark Express for many years.

Bukeka Blakemore shared that she had been working with our team for more than 10 years, saying:

“Throughout our more than 10 year relationship their incredible team has made sure our trademarks FAV Unite and FAVuniteTv have been protected. Thank you TME!”

K Franz has also worked with us on multiple trademarks and renewals:

“We are always renewing and apply for trademarks. TradeMark Express is hands down the best company I’ve worked with. They are not only fast and professional but personable and really take the time to explain and help the best they can.”

And Laura Lefkowitz told us:

“Always available and responsive to my questions. Have worked with them for several trademarks and are always done in a timely fashion with excellent communication.”

Shelley Tanenbaum has been a client for almost 15 years and has described our team as “surprisingly accessible.” Heidi Jones of PUP-EEZ has worked with us on her trademarks for a decade.

For a small business owner, having a familiar team to turn to when another trademark question comes up can make the process considerably easier.

Sometimes, It Means Having Someone in Your Corner

Another issue our clients increasingly encounter has nothing to do with the trademark application itself.

It has to do with trademark scams.

After a trademark application is filed, information about the application becomes part of the public record. Unfortunately, that can result in unsolicited calls, letters, emails, and notices from people who may present themselves as government officials or trademark service providers.

Simone Sheffield experienced this firsthand.

Within minutes of filing her trademark, she began receiving calls and emails from people claiming to be USPTO employees and telling her that she owed an additional $4,000.

She noticed that the caller was “super pushy for the payment and more personal information.” Rather than sending money, she contacted TradeMark Express.

We helped her identify the fake email addresses and phone numbers associated with the messages. She described us as “straightforward, caring, knowledgeable, and generous with their time.”

Dennis Hysom had a similar experience after receiving a convincing trademark expiration notice from a source he didn’t recognize.

His response was simple:

“I called Trade[M]ark Express before I did anything about it.”

Raquel Baldelomar, who has filed more than five trademarks with us, said our team’s help gave her “peace of mind.”

What Should You Do If You Receive a Suspicious Trademark Notice?

A few simple habits can help you avoid acting on a fraudulent or misleading notice:

  • Pause when a message creates a sense of urgency.
  • Don’t send money or personal information simply because someone contacted you first.
  • Check the source of the notice carefully.
  • If you’re unsure, send the notice to us before responding. We’re happy to take a look.

Being cautious is especially important when someone is demanding immediate payment or asking for personal information.
